Interative Video Art Installation

Echo-Natures, 2019

French Creole Caribbean artist David Gumbs is requesting participation in his outdoor interactive video installation that will be projected on the sidewall of the Actors’ Playhouse in downtown Coral Gables this January and February 2021 as part of the amazing Illuminate exhibition in Coral Gables.

This interactive video artwork is part of a diptych with the other component projected on the Davidson building located on Ponce de Leon Boulevard. Both video projections speak about the pandemic, migration, flux, cultural heritage, and identity.

David Gumbs is pleased to invite students to create butterfly-like inspired flying insects. Selected artworks will be animated and embedded into the artist’s projection and triggered randomly by visitors’ movement in front of infrared sensors.
