John Talley is the Executive Director for Fung Collaboratives and FC Projects. He assumed the role as Illuminate Coral Gables Project Director with his successful bid for the project. For over a decade, Talley has been realizing major temporary and permanent public art exhibitions. He has worked nation wide through small to large endeavors including Art Parks and commemorative exhibitions. One of his joys in leading large-scale projects like Illuminate Coral Gables is his ability to work closely with the artists through the design process so the realization phase is efficient while maintaining the artist’s vision without compromise or sacrifice. He brings his own interest in furniture making and photography to the conversation as well as his 33 years of real estate development in Northern California. Talley will oversee the entire operations for Illuminate Coral Gables and feels blessed to have such an amazing team and ICG Board to work with.
Cliff Walker is the founder of the “MAPD (Music, Art, Projection & Dance) Collective”, master of bending light and augmenting reality with video projection mapping. As ICG’s projection mapping designer, Cliff will be working closely with the artists to visually immerse their creations into the local architecture, transforming Coral Gables into an illuminated canvas.
German began his entrepreneurial career when he started a micro digital agency that offers digital services for creating augmented reality experiences. He collaborates from product strategy to design, development to testing, he pushes the boundaries of imagination and technology.
German knows that AR is one piece of the immersive experience for this new instant rewarding phenomenon that users seek when interacting with services and products. Whether it is for art, education or commercial industry. He collaborated with a Canadian Real Estate magazine offering a fresh digital immersion to readers. Currently, he is collaborating with the amazing world-renowned artist Kiki Smith.
In Rome, he developed the digital communications strategy to deliver immersive experiences of masterclasses by worldwide renowned artists accompanied with Rome guided tours. German’s interests are in art programs that impact positively the well-being of local communities and generate deep existential conversations.
He was born in Perú. He immigrated to the United States in 2006 to pursue higher education in Sculpture and Marketing. He continued his training in Sculpture at Fleisher in Philadelphia. He became a sculptor’s apprentice for renowned sculptors like Robert Taplin, Stephen Layne, Jim Dessicino and Brian Booth Craig. Also became a painter’s assistant of emerging muralist and community advocate Manuela Guillen in Atlantic City. He earned a Bachelors degree in Marketing from Rutgers University. German is bilingual. His native language is Spanish. He Interned as a web administrator and an assistant for the Project Manager in the execution of the breakthrough public art project named Artlantic in Atlantic City. Since then, Atlantic City’s public art visual scenery and community engagement are growing steady.
Nicolas R. Cabrera is a true Coral Gables native. He has a passion for this city’s history and an unusual depth of knowledge due to his unique personal connection with the community. He spent his formative years observing his father who served as Coral Gables City Commissioner for twelve years.
Nicolas was actively involved in his father’s campaigns and became intimate with aspects of the city’s governance. Through this, he developed his own passion for his community as well as a desire for public service.
Nicolas is a recent Cum Laude graduate of Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a minor in Communications and Media. His leadership roles extended from high school through college and continue with his involvement with the local non-profit organization Bike Walk Coral Gables.
His background makes him an exceptional team member of Illuminate Coral Gables & the Fireflies exhibition. He is directing all operations of the Volunteer Program for Illuminate Coral Gables as well as recruiting all Ambassadors for the Fireflies project.
Steve Dellicarpini is the fabricator of Kiki Smith’s Blue Night. His challenge was to take 42 of Kiki’s constellation drawings and recreate them in a medium suitable for outdoor exhibition. Being a multidisciplinary artist himself, he was no stranger to the processes needed to complete this. Steve will also be working as a fabricator for ICG in 2022.
As a curatorial assistant, Ngan Doan conducts scholarly research about possible and participating artists for Illuminate Coral Gables. Doan built content files and suggested new artists and exhibition ideas for the upcoming public art exhibition in Coral Gables 2021.
Doan assisted in the creation of an archival system for catalogs, press, and the opportunity to collaborate with staff and the guest curators on exhibition planning. Doan helped develop promotional materials and PowerPoint presentations for the chief curator. She also created 27 individual artist dossiers and all materials used by the entire Illuminate Coral Gables team. Doan will commence research for the 2022 iteration of Illuminate Coral Gables.
Qiling(Elaine) Ma is a multimedia designer from San Jose State University with a bachelor degree of fine art, concentration in digital media art. In the Illuminate Coral Gables 2021 project, Ma was responsible for web design, web development, and prototype presentation design. She also enjoyed and specialized in graphic and motion design, 3D modeling, and video editing.
Umika Mathur is currently and intern for Fung Collaboratives. She has aided in preparing for Illuminate Coral Gables through compiling dossiers for all artists, gathering and researching information about art movements involving light and individual artist practices who currently work with light as a medium for their artwork. She has created mock-ups, designs, and videos in Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Pro to help present new ideas through this evolving process.
